The Sacred Pause Between Years

There’s something tender about this time of year—
a quiet, liminal space where the edges of one chapter soften
and the next is just beginning to take shape.

I’ve learned to treasure this pause.

The last few weeks of December feel like a threshold to me,
a place where the past and the future sit side by side
long enough for me to sit with each—
pondering what was and what is beginning to emerge.
It’s the moment when reflection and anticipation share the same breath.

This is when I naturally slow down,
listen more closely,
and honor the life I lived over the past twelve months—
not just the bright spots,
but also the moments that stretched me,
softened me,
and shaped me in ways I didn’t always expect.

I’ve come to believe that each year offers us its own curriculum.
Some lessons arrive wrapped in beauty,
others in challenge,
but all of them, in their own way, ask us to become more fully ourselves.

And so, as 2025 begins to loosen its hold
and the energy of 2026 glimmers on the horizon,
I find myself wanting to gather the wisdom of what was
while opening my heart to what is coming.

This blog is my way of honoring that dance—
the looking back,
the looking forward,
and the quiet, sacred space in between.

A Year of Release, Revisited

This past year was a continued year of release for me,
as it was for so many of you.

I honestly didn’t think 2024 could be topped in that area,
and perhaps it wasn’t—
maybe what I experienced in 2025 was more of a deepening of that initial release.
A refining.
A sustained invitation to keep asking what could no longer stay
if I truly wished to live without limitation.

There were definite surprises along the way—
some big speed bumps, if you will—
that ultimately required the final letting go of old timelines
I had to consciously choose to leave behind.

What made this year different, though,
was the way those endings arrived.

They came from a place of sovereignty,
with a deep knowing that everything was divinely orchestrated
and had served its purpose in helping me remember myself—
my whole self—
the divine me walking a very specific dharmic path.

The greatest surprise of all?

Resounding peace.
Authentic gratitude.
A deep remembrance.
And a rededication to self.

What a beautiful gift.

Lessons the Year Offered

As I look back, a few lessons rise to the surface with particular clarity.

1. To thine own self, be true.
It’s so easy to lose ourselves in a human life full of obligations—
partners, children, work, responsibilities, expectations.
This year reminded me that commitment to self is non-negotiable.

And I’m not just talking about self-care—
though that’s an important part of it.
I’m talking about you.

Who are you outside of the roles you play?
Why are you here?
What are you here to experience, to offer, to remember?

If those questions feel difficult to answer—
especially without referencing things outside of yourself—
my loving suggestion is to begin spending some quiet time with them.
The answers have a way of guiding you back home,
centering you within the human experience
so truth and authenticity can ripple outward into every area of your life.

2. You are always stronger than you think you are.
I know—cliché.
And if you’re like me, you might be a little tired of proving this one.
Still, it bears repeating: inner strength is forged in fire,
and when it’s called upon, it will always guide you back to yourself.

3. Get out of your own way.
No one is guiltier of this than this Virgo, number-9, lifelong planner.
This year reminded me to loosen my grip on how I think things should look
and when they should happen.
To honor the creative force at play in my life
and allow space for outcomes far greater
than anything I could have planned for myself.

4. When life gets loud, get quiet.
Be still.
Be the eye of the storm—
even if you have to return there again and again.
This is the sweet spot of the human experience,
because it gently shifts you into your higher self
while still fully inhabiting your humanity.

Feeling Into What’s Ahead

As 2026 approaches, I’ve begun tuning into the energy of what’s to come—
and wow… I’m genuinely humming with excitement.

Will it all be easy?
Probably not.
That’s rarely the human experience.

But I do sense something significant unfolding.

I feel connections becoming increasingly important—
personally and collectively.
I sense continued crumbling of old structures
already loosening their grip on society,
which I imagine will be the most challenging aspect of the year ahead.

And yet, it all feels purposeful.
Necessary.
As a new earth is quite literally being birthed in front of us.

We are part of this tremendous change.
And that, to me, is incredibly exciting.

I also feel more and more people remembering who they truly are
and choosing lives that reflect that authenticity with greater courage.

A Practice for the Threshold

Each December, I make a practice of drafting a prayer for the coming year—
one that holds the themes I want to remain mindful of and open to.

I return to this prayer daily,
often with a hand over my heart,
and I can’t tell you how powerful it’s been
to watch the universe respond.

So many things I’ve prayed for have come to pass—
not always in the way I imagined,
but always in a way that felt perfect from a higher perspective.

If this practice resonates with you,
I invite you to find a few quiet moments and let your heart wander
in the spirit of co-creation.

Jot down any words, feelings, or themes that arise.
Let the prayer unfold naturally.
You’ll know when it’s complete—you’ll feel it.

If writing your own prayer feels daunting or unfamiliar,
you might begin with this beautiful offering by Richard Rudd,
The Holy Incantation of Solace
a gentle place to start.

The Holy Incantation of Solace

Richard Rudd

May Love pour through our soul — weaving us together as One
May Light flower in our heart — lending us the Grace to transform all fear
May Warmth radiate our belly — bringing prosperity to all
May Purity shimmer in our bones — filling us with the light of the stars
May Kindness resound in our voice — softening the way that lies ahead
May Clarity shine through our mind — as we lie in the arms of the infinite
May Solace abound in our life — touching all who we meet
May Solace abound in the world — bringing all beings into perfect union

Closing

As we step across this threshold together,
may you give yourself permission to pause.
To listen.
To gather the wisdom of what has been
and gently open your hands and hearts to what is becoming.

The space between years is sacred.
May you meet it with presence, courage, and grace.
